CERAMIC TOUR IN TURKEY (Red Clay – White Clay – Tiles – Quartz & more)

ISTANBUL – ANKARA – CAPPADOCIA – ESKISEHIR – BURSA - IZNIK


TOUR ITINERARY:

Day 01: Arrival to Istanbul
Meeting and greeting at the airport. Welcome to Istanbul which has been the capital of two world empires the Byzantine and Ottoman. It is a cultural bridge between the east and west and has been thus since the archaic period. It is a city that literally connects two continents being Asia and Europe and is the only city that sits on two continents. It is a city of social and religious toleration, being the home of three major religions, Islam, Christian and Judaism. It is city that has wonderful art of both Christian and Islamic, a city of poetry and love, a city that has been fought for throughout history, and has example of richness and progress from an early time. Short sightseeing in Istanbul and transfer to your hotel.

Day 02: Istanbul
After breakfast, we start to discover historical sites in Istanbul.
Roman hippodrome: was a circus that was the sporting and social centre of Constantinople, capital of the Byzantine Empire. Today it is a square named Sultanahmet. Then visit the Islamic Art Museum where we will admire Seljukide and Ottoman period artifacts. Continue to Blue Mosque, visit the world famous mosque of Ottoman empire. Then Hagia Sophia, visit the greatest ancient Byzantine church. Return to our hotel.

Day 03: Istanbul
Today we continue to explore Istanbul. We start from Ottoman Sultans residence Topkapý Palace. Then we continue to Archaeological Museums. We will see the best samples of ancient Turkish potteries and ceramics during the day. Return back to the hotel, overnight in Istanbul.

Day 04: Istanbul – Ankara
Today we drive to Ankara, visit the Anatolian Civilisations Museum. In this extraordinary museum we will admire the ancient Assyrians and Hittites potteries. Overnight in Ankara.

Day 05: Ankara – Cappadocia
After a short visit in the capital continue to Cappadocia via Salt Lake. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 06: Cappadocia
Discover Cappadocia. Visit the valleys, villages. Camel Valley, Pasabag valley and fairy chimneys. Visit a Carpet School. Discover one of the oldest Turkish art. Rug weaving in Anatolia first began with the arrival of the Turkish tribes from Central Asia, who settled in this region. Afternoon red clay workshop in a pottery factory in Cappdocia. (Red clay works)

Day 07: Cappadocia
Continue to discover Cappadocia.Visit an underground city, Goreme open air museum, Onyx Factory. Afternoon we will return to pottery factory for a white clay workshop. Overnight in Cappadocia.

Day 08: Cappadocia – Eskiþehir
Drive to Eskiþehir. Visit the Meerschaum museum. (Meerschaum is a soft white mineral sometimes found floating on the Black Sea, and rather suggestive of sea-foam. It is opaque and of white, grey or cream color, breaking with a conchoidal or fine earthy fracture, and occasionally fibrous in texture). Overnight in Eskiþehir.

Day 09 : Eskiþehir – Bursa – Iznik - Istanbul
Drive to Bursa. Visit the famous silk bazaar, then drive to Iznik. Visit Iznik ceramic factory.
Following the establishment of the Ottoman Empire in the early 14th century, Iznik pottery initially followed Seljuk Empire antecedents. Continue to Istanbul.
Farewell dinner in Istanbul and overnight.

Day 10: Istanbul airport
Transfer to Istanbul airport, end of our services
